India goes mobile

Tata Teleservices today announced the launch of the Photon Plus – the new mobile broadband service in New Delhi. Japanese mobile giant NTT DoCoMo bought a 26% share in Tata last year – so there’s a good possibility that Tata will be driving 3G services across India to make way for 4G upgrades from NTT . The Photon Plus advertises speeds of up to 3.1Mbps.

In the meantime, in Ireland the company called Eircom has announced that they will be launching a branded 3G dongle, as well as providing free access to its 1,000 Wi-Fi spots. The service should be available to 50% of Irish residents by 2010.
