Some top managers are under apprehension of the future trends in the market of mobile broadband services. They are anxious about possible merger of Orange and T-Mobile, considering it as birth of a new monopolist among mobile broadband providers.

Kevin Russell, 3’s Chief Executive, explains that such “alignment of forces” can concentrate 84% of the UK’s 1800Mhz radio spectrum under the direction of one company.

By the way, this year Orange was announced the best mobile broadband company in the UK. So there is no reason to be surprised that this possible merger attracted the attention of the OFT (the Office of Fair Trading).
